The Geant is the versatile mid-sized climbing rucksack in our range, built for those who require an exceptionally durable sack for all-round mountain use.
The Geant strikes the ideal balance between a spacious mountain pack and a streamlined climbing sack. While its intended use is on the crag, the Geant is designed to excel across a diverse range of terrain, from the rugged approaches of the British hills to technical alpine ascents. We’ve equipped the Geant with a 50mm dual-adjust webbing waist belt to ensure the weight is carried securely without interfering with a harness. While we do offer a padded waist belt option, we recommend considering carefully whether you truly need padding on a 35-litre climbing sack; a streamlined webbing belt reduces bulk and allows for much greater freedom of movement during technical moves.
If you are looking for a more walking-oriented pack of this size, we offer a dedicated range of walking sacks based on similar patterns to our climbing gear. For a walking-specific equivalent to the Geant, have a look at the Chamois.
Standard Version: Constructed in our Staveley workshop from 1000D texturised nylon with a reinforced double-layer base, the Geant is built to withstand the abrasive reality of heavy use in the harshest environments. We’ve avoided the clutter of modern “lifestyle” features, focusing instead on a single-compartment design that prioritises ease of packing and long-term reliability. Whether it’s a day of winter climbing or a long multi-pitch route, the Geant provides a dependable, functional sac that’s ready for anything.
Lightweight Version: The Geant LW offers the same 35-litre capacity but utilises 420D nylon to save weight. By stripping back to a single thickness base, removing the wand pockets and ice axe loops, and replacing compression straps with attachment points, we’ve created a mid-sized sack for the weight-conscious mountaineer who refuses to sacrifice legendary Aiguille durability. Choosing Your Colours:
We take pride in the fact that our equipment is made to order right here in Staveley. Because we build each sack individually, you have the opportunity to choose a colour scheme that suits you. Colours here.
Standard (1000D) Range: Your chosen colour will be applied to the side panels of the rucksack, creating a classic two-tone look against the black front, wand pockets and lid. Back panels and shoulder straps all in black.
Lightweight (420D) Range: Your chosen colour will be used for the entire main body of the sack. Back panels and shoulder straps all in black.
Bespoke Options & Customisation
While we offer a selection of core colours, other options and custom combinations are often available. If you have a specific requirement, or if you have any questions regarding back lengths or features, please don’t hesitate to give us a call at the workshop. We are always happy to discuss your kit and ensure you get the right sack for your needs.
