The Couloir is the definitive small technical climbing rucksack in our range, built for those who require a clean, functional, and exceptionally durable sack.
The Couloir is specifically designed to accommodate the needs of climbers and mountaineers seeking maximum usability and functionality in a low capacity sack. While its intended use is on the crag, the Couloir is also a brilliant day-walking sack. It is designed to excel during mountain walks or scrambles, and technical approaches where a larger pack would be overkill. We’ve equipped it with a simple, effective webbing waist belt to ensure it stays secure during movement while remaining easy to clip out of the way for unobstructed access to a climbing harness.
Standard Version: Constructed in our Staveley workshop from 1000D texturised nylon, the Standard Couloir is built to withstand the abrasive reality of heavy use in the harshest environments. We’ve avoided the clutter of modern “lifestyle” features, focusing instead on a single compartment design that prioritises ease of packing and long term reliability. Whether it’s a summer day on Dow Crag or a brisk walk over the fells, the Couloir provides a dependable, functional sac that’s ready for anything.
Lightweight Version: For those seeking to save weight, the Lightweight Couloir is constructed from single thickness 420D nylon. To shave weight, we have replaced side compression straps with streamlined attachment points and removed the ice axe loops. Choosing Your Colours:
We take pride in the fact that our equipment is made to order right here in Staveley. Because we build each sack individually, you have the opportunity to choose a colour scheme that suits you. Colours here.
Standard (1000D) Range: Your chosen colour will be applied to the side panels of the rucksack, creating a classic two-tone look against the black front and lid. Back panels and shoulder straps all in black.
Lightweight (420D) Range: Your chosen colour will be used for the entire main body of the sack. Back panels and shoulder straps all in black.
